Introduction

We want everyone to have a positive experience on Aveola, so we’ve built a wide range of safety tools to protect our community from the moment someone signs up.

Our safety measures include advanced AI, comprehensive age verification , video moderation, a 24/7 team of Safety Specialists who proactively monitor the platform and respond to reports in real time, customizable tools that help people protect themselves, easy in-app reporting, and educational content.

In this section, we’ll walk you through our approach to digital safety.

When you download Aveola and create an account, we ask for:

  • Date of birth. You’ll be asked the date of the birth to confirm you are over 18 before you can use the app.
  • Name & gender. We need your real name to set up the account, but you can choose a different public username for your profile.
  • Profile photo (optional). If you add a main profile photo, it must clearly show your face. Images of other people, cartoons, or pets aren’t allowed as the main photo.
  • Interests. Pick topics you like (e.g., music, TV shows, games, sports, travel, brands). You can add a short bio, favorite emojis, more photos, and tags to complete your profile. Interests help personalize recommendations, improve matching, and make your profile easier to discover. You can edit them anytime.

We send our Community Guidelines to all new users and ask you to read and accept them before using Aveola. Accepting the Guidelines is mandatory — if you skip or decline them, you won’t be able to access or use the service.

Age verification

We verify the age and identity of Aveola users in the following ways:

  • Age estimation technology provided by trusted partners, which asks users to take a real-time photo of themselves and checks it against the date of birth they’ve provided.
  • Detection of identity discrepancies between the age given at sign-up, listed in the user’s profile, or used during exchanges with others. If there is any doubt about someone’s identity or age, they will have to go through additional identity verification processes using an ID, such as a passport or driving licence.

We collect only the information necessary to confirm you are 18 or older. Your verification data is never shown publicly. We use secure tokens instead of storing full ID images. Any temporary images or data used for verification are encrypted and retained only for as long as necessary to complete the verification process, after which they are securely deleted in accordance with Aveola’s retention policy.

If verification fails because you’re under 18, you won’t be able to use Aveola; if images are unclear or data doesn’t match, you’ll be asked to resubmit or use another method; suspected misuse (fake or borrowed IDs) may result in denied access and enforcement across linked devices or accounts. We may ask you to re-verify after critical account changes, if we detect possible account takeover or evasion, or if required by law or safety reviews.

For best results, use good lighting, remove hats and sunglasses, and follow the on-screen guides; if one document isn’t supported, try another accepted ID. If you believe we made a mistake, you can appeal by emailing support@aveola.app with your ID. Verification is required to use Aveola because keeping the platform adult-only protects the community and builds trust.

Settings

Once your Aveola account is set up, choose your preferences in Settings. You can:

  • Block another user to stop contact. Blocked users won’t see each other on Aveola or find each other for video chat or messaging (see Safety & Privacy settings).
  • Manage preferences: preferred gender, age ranges.

In Settings, you can ask questions, share suggestions, and report safety concerns (see Help), access our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and delete your account.

Content monitoring & moderation

We combine AI systems and human moderation to reduce inappropriate content and behavior on Aveola. If any word, sentence, photo, or video breaks our guidelines or signals risk, our systems alert the Safety team. For example:

  • We review all profiles and notify users if content isn’t allowed (e.g., profile photo, violent references in a bio and name).
  • We monitor all video chats with real-time video and audio moderation to detect violations and intervene immediately (e.g., hate speech in a title, drug or weapon use, posing in underwear, discussing self-harm).

Real-time intervention if we see inappropriate behaviour or content in a live chat (e.g., if someone asks for nudes or bullying is taking place). We send a pop-up alert and use the opportunity to explain how they have crossed the line, how to change their behaviour, and what further action we’ll take if they don’t comply. Temporarily disabling features and issuing temporary or permanent bans from the Aveola platform, depending on the severity of the breach. In addition to our focus on age and identity verification and content moderation, we’re committed to protecting Aveola users from sexual exploitation. We have dedicated tools that: Use keyword hash lists to help identify possible grooming and sexual exploitation. Remove child sexual abuse content, and a team reports potential offenders to our partner NCMEC and other authorities.
